The Importance of Fiber in Detoxification
One of the most effective (and often overlooked) detox tools is dietary fiber. Fiber helps bind toxins in the digestive tract and move them out through regular bowel movements. Without adequate fiber, toxins processed by the liver can be reabsorbed, adding to the body’s burden.
Soluble fiber (found in oats, beans, apples, and flaxseeds) helps absorb waste and cholesterol, while insoluble fiber (from vegetables, whole grains, and seeds) adds bulk to stool and promotes regularity.
For those recovering from mold or chemical exposure, a high-fiber diet is especially important. If fiber is reintroduced after a restricted diet, it should be added gradually and accompanied by increased water intake to avoid discomfort.
