Gathering Your Supplies
Before starting any cleaning project, it’s best to gather everything you need in one place. This helps you avoid interruptions once the work begins, and reduces the chance of spreading contaminants outside the work area.
For cleaning small mold or mildew spots around showers and bathtubs, you’ll need:
- Caulk removal tool
- Grout removal tool
- Abrasive cleaning pads (such as scrub sponges or nylon scrubbing pads)
- Mold cleaning product (Concrobium Mold Control or an equivalent, non-bleach-based cleaner)
- Clean towels or disposable cloths for drying surfaces
- Mold-resistant grout and caulk for repairs
- Caulking gun (if not using preloaded tubes)
- Trash bags for disposing of removed materials
- Spray bottle filled with water (to lightly mist surfaces if needed)
Optional but helpful:
- Painter’s tape to mask off edges when re-caulking
- Small utility knife for stubborn caulk removal
- Plastic sheeting to protect nearby surfaces if needed
Having all supplies ready makes the process smoother and prevents the need to leave the work zone once you’ve started, which could risk spreading spores.
