Using IAQ Monitors – What to Track and Why

You can’t improve what you don’t measure. Indoor air quality (IAQ) monitors help you understand what’s in your air so you can respond effectively—before symptoms or problems arise.

What a good IAQ monitor should track:

  • Particulate Matter (PM2.5/PM10)
  • TVOCs (Total Volatile Organic Compounds)
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO)
  • Temperature & Humidity
  • Radon (optional but recommended in many areas)

Many monitors now come with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to track trends over time and receive alerts when levels rise. These tools are especially helpful for families with children, immunocompromised individuals, or those recovering from environmental illness.
