Having the right tools on hand before you start will save you time and frustration. Here’s what you’ll want to gather:
Cleaning Tools:
- HEPA vacuum with a sealed system and bagged collection
- Microfiber cloths or unscented disposable paper towels
- Electrostatic cloths (e.g., Swiffer dry sweeping pads)
- Extension poles for reaching high walls and ceilings
- Spray bottles for damp wiping solution
Cleaning Solutions:
- Dish soap (fragrance-free, low-residue like Seventh Generation Free & Clear)
- Distilled water or clean tap water
- Optional: white vinegar or approved surfactant (like Remedy or HavenClean)
Air Cleaning Equipment:
- Box fans with MERV 13 or higher filters or
- HEPA air filtration devices (AFDs)
- Optional: battery-powered leaf blower (for dust dislodging)
- Optional: ULV fogger and approved fogging solution (dust suppression only)
Other Supplies:
- Disposable gloves and masks
- Trash bags for used cloths and debris
- Painter’s plastic for fogging or protecting items
- Plastic bins for organizing supplies or sequestering items
- Tape (painter’s or masking) to seal vents or cover areas temporarily
