Why Not All Inspections Require Testing
A common misconception is that a good mold inspection must include testing. In reality, some of the most valuable findings come from the visual inspection, moisture readings, and the history of the home.
In many cases, testing is not necessary if:
- The problem is visible and clearly moisture-related
- Remediation is already planned based on known damage
- The goal is to locate and eliminate the source, not just confirm what’s there
Your IEP may decide to forgo testing if the findings already point clearly to remediation needs. This approach saves money and prevents delays—while still delivering meaningful results.
