The Written Report: What to Expect

The Written Report: What to Expect

After the inspection, your Indoor Environmental Professional (IEP) will prepare a written report summarizing their findings. This isn’t just a formality—it’s a roadmap for recovery.

A typical report includes:

  • A summary of concerns noted during the walkthrough
  • Room-by-room observations, including visible damage or suspect areas
  • Moisture readings and particle data, if collected
  • Lab results, if testing was performed (with interpretations)
  • Recommended next steps, including cleaning, containment, remediation, or follow-up testing

Some IEPs may also provide diagrams, photos, or sampling maps to help visualize findings. If you don’t understand part of your report, don’t hesitate to ask. A good IEP will help walk you through it.
