Completing the Questionnaire and Sharing History

Your personal experience in the home provides essential clues that can’t be gathered from tools alone. A detailed pre-inspection questionnaire allows the IEP to tailor the inspection to your needs.

Be sure to include:

  • Health symptoms and where in the home they seem to worsen
  • Water damage history, including leaks, floods, or plumbing problems
  • HVAC or construction history, such as renovations, retrofits, or duct cleaning
  • Previous mold issues, testing, or remediation (successful or not)

Tip: Include photos or written timelines if possible—especially if events occurred over many years. This history helps the inspector prioritize where to look and what types of contamination to consider.
