Foundation & Decision-Making in Mold Testing
Gravity Plates (Petri Dish Tests)
Surface Sampling (Swabs and Tape Lifts)
Air Sampling (Spore Trap Cassettes)
DNA-Based Dust Testing (ERMI, HERTSMI-2, Fungi 10)
Advanced and Specialized Testing (VOC, Mycotoxin, Endotoxin, Actinomycetes)
What These Tests Measure
- VOC Testing looks for chemical gases emitted from building materials, cleaners, paints, adhesives, or mold-related microbial VOCs. VOCs can cause irritation, fatigue, and other symptoms in sensitive individuals.
- Mycotoxin Testing identifies toxic compounds produced by certain mold species. While useful in specific medical or legal cases, mycotoxin presence is often assumed if there is active or past mold growth.
- Endotoxin Testing measures fragments of bacteria often found in wet building materials or environments with sewage or animal waste.
- Actinomycete Testing targets bacteria-like organisms sometimes found in wet conditions and considered potential contributors to inflammatory reactions.
