Conducting a Gravity Plate Test
Performing a gravity plate test is straightforward. The key is consistency and careful attention to setup.
Here’s a basic step-by-step:
- Select the room or area to test. Choose a stable, flat surface away from vents, windows, or fans.
- Label the plate with the date, time, and location.
- Remove the lid and allow the plate to sit uncovered for 60 minutes.
- After one hour, replace the lid carefully to avoid disturbing the sample.
- Seal the plate in a plastic bag and ship it to the lab using the instructions provided.
Helpful tips:
- Avoid testing immediately after cleaning or vacuuming, as this can skew results.
- Sample during normal daily activity to get a more realistic snapshot.
- Use more than one plate across different rooms or levels of the home for comparison.
