Advanced and Specialized Testing (VOC, Mycotoxin, Endotoxin, Actinomycetes)

Appropriate Uses for Gravity Plate Testing

Gravity plate testing is best used as an early-stage assessment tool, particularly when symptoms are present but the source is unclear. It’s helpful in situations such as:

  • Screening multiple rooms to identify areas with elevated airborne mold.
  • Rechecking a space after remediation or fine particle cleaning.
  • Evaluating environments where professional testing is not immediately accessible.

However, it is not recommended for:

  • Legal or insurance claims.
  • Situations where advanced health issues are involved.
  • Confirming the absence of mold in hard-to-access or enclosed areas.

As a general rule, gravity plates are most useful for starting the conversation, not ending it. When results are concerning—or when health conditions are severe—additional forms of testing or a professional assessment are often warranted.
