HVAC Cleaning – every 3 to 5 years.
Routine professional cleaning of your HVAC system is essential to long-term dust management. Over time, even the best systems accumulate dust and particles inside the ducts, vent covers, coils, and air handler cabinet.
Recommended frequency:
- Every 3 to 5 years for most homes
- More often if you’ve recently remediated, had construction, or experienced water damage
What a proper cleaning includes:
- Removal and cleaning or replacement of vent covers
- Cleaning of supply and return ducts
- Wiping and sanitizing of supply plenums, coils, and air handler cabinet
- Removal and replacement of any contaminated or degraded components
Make sure the company is NADCA certified and HVAC licensed, and ask if they’re familiar with low-tox or fragrance-free cleaning products. After cleaning, install a fresh high-MERV filter to maintain the improved condition.
