Step 3: Fogging for Dust Suppression (Optional but Helpful)
⚠️ Only fog for dust suppression. Do not use antimicrobial or disinfectant products unless directed by a professional. We’re not “killing mold”—we’re removing particles.
Fogging Steps:
- Protect sensitive itemsCover electronics, fabrics, and moisture-sensitive surfaces with 1-mil painter’s plastic secured with painter’s tape.
- Use the right equipment and solution
- ULV fogger (cold-mist preferred over thermal)
- Approved non-toxic surfactant (e.g., AeroSolver, Remedy, HavenClean)
- Follow all product-specific instructions
- Fog the room
- Use a slow, sweeping motion to lightly fog the air in each area.
- Focus on open air and corners—not directly on surfaces.
- Let particles settleWait 30–60 minutes after fogging to allow particles to drop onto surfaces.
- Remove plastic sheeting carefullyRoll plastic inward to trap particles and dispose of it in sealed trash bags.
- Wipe any leftover residueLightly damp wipe any visible fogging residue from glass or non-porous surfaces.
Safety Tip: Always wear PPE while fogging, even with non-toxic products. If you are chemically sensitive or unsure about the product, have someone else perform this step or skip it entirely.
