Clothing, Textiles, and Soft Goods

👚 Washable Clothing and Linens

Clothing and bedding are porous but can usually be salvaged if there’s no visible mold growth.

Laundering Process:

• Use hot water with fragrance-free detergent +

• 1 cup of vinegar, or

• ½ cup of borax, or

• EC3 Laundry Additive

• Add extra rinse cycles

• Dry thoroughly (sunlight is ideal)

Wash in small loads and store cleaned items in sealed bags or bins until you’re ready to use them again.

🛏️ Pillows, Stuffed Animals, and Cushioned Items

These are cushioned porous items—the hardest to clean effectively. Even if they seem fine on the outside, contamination often penetrates deep into the filling.

When to discard:

• Visible mold growth

• Strong, lingering odor

• Triggering symptoms after cleaning

If attempting to salvage:

• Use a professional restoration service (Esporta system)

• Or clean outer surfaces using HEPA vacuum + air washing + damp wiping

• Store in sealed containers and reintroduce one at a time with caution
